We tried a clay recipe today that is worth posting… if you have ‘Peas’ (or Grand-‘Peas’) you might want to give this recipe a go… It’s easy… and you probably already have the ingredients on hand. Here’s the line up…
Corn Starch Clay
2 c. corn starch
1 1/2 c. flour
1 c. warm water
Stir the dry ingredients together in a mixing bowl, then add warm water. Finish the mixing process with your hands to make a stiff but workable dough. (We found that we needed to add a bit more water to make the right consistency.) Shape dough however you like then set aside to dry (it takes a couple days).
The Peas made all sorts of shapes with their dough, like… Wyatt, after he mashed and mashed and mashed his dough and lifted up to me a big flat blob, said, “Mama! I’m so happy! I made a floor!” 🙂 We also had several pots and little figurines created, and a couple of Peas found leaves outside and used the rolling pin to press a leaf imprint onto a bit of flattened clay and were left with a cool fossil-like leaf impression… leave it to Peas and their imaginations (or pudgy-“mashers”).
Here are The Peas playing with clay…
Have a blast with your own little Peas … you might even want to snitch a little piece of dough for your own fingers to mash (fantastic therapy!).
