WE’RE BACK!!!! Miss us???
After a month long trip to the States… leaving Daddy and seven Peas behind to cope without Mama… and another month to catch up after returning… We’re back in business Baby!
We’ll kick off this new season of Blog-posts with a Project for Peas… Jello Play-dough or if you live in New Zealand, “Jelly” Play-dough… because Jello is called Jelly down here, and what we call Jelly in the States is called Jam or Marmalade in Kiwi-talk… Confused? So am I. Ah well, we better stick with ‘Jello Play-dough’ as jelly and play-dough just don’t mesh in my brain.
We found this recipe on Pinterest… Mom’s new BFF… no one seems to mind the time Mama spends there because of the FOOD, FUN and CREATIVITY that trickle down to the rest of the family through her new obsession. (Whew! Because it’s addicting!)
Kay… Let’s get started!
1. Collect your Ingredients and Tools:
Ingredient Lineup (per batch): 1 cup Flour, 2 Tbs. Salt, 2 Tbs. Cream of Tartar, 1 pkg. Jello 3 oz. (85 gram), 1 cup warm Water and 2 Tbs. Oil
Tools: Heavy Pan, Stirring Spoon, Measuring Cups and Spoons, Floured Surface for kneading dough once cooked, Yer Hands for squishing, and Storage Containers for finished dough.
2. Mix your dry ingredients together in a heavy sauce pan.
3. Add water and oil, stir to combine.
4. Turn stove to Medium-High, cook and stir until mixture thickens and comes together in a coherent ball of dough.
5. Transfer dough to a Floured Surface and let cool till it’s comfortable to touch. *Caution! Dough is HOT when first removed from pan.
6. When your dough is cool enough, knead and knead and knead it adding flour as necessary until it is no longer sticky and is “play-dough” consistency.
Repeat with additional colors.
(Dough can be stored in sealable plastic containers. I’m not sure yet how long this will last. It has been a week for us and the dough is still perfect. We’ll let you know when it goes off on us.)
