Dear EB —
(aka Easter Bunny… aka Grandma and Grandpa)
Thanks for a super fun Easter! We thought you’d like to see some pictures of the FUN…
After breakfast, each Pea came across an empty basket (or chair for Nalia and Wyatt), a personal note, and a “magic bean”.
Easter afternoon we had an easter egg decorating rotation, and then a war with water balloons…
We set up 6 different decorating stations each with a different decorating modality.
Shaving cream… swirled with food dye. The idea was to roll the egg in the foam, let sit, and then wipe off to create a marbled look. Great idea, but will have to tweak it next time as it didn’t word as well as we hoped. However, the idea was so fun we will likely try it again next year anyhow.
Stickers. These were used for their shapes not their design. After stickers were placed the eggs were dyed and the stickers removed to reveal patterns.
Sharpie. Designs drawn with permanent marker. Some were left as is, some were dyed after decorating.
Paint Brush. Rather than dipping the eggs in dye we used a paint brush at this station to apply it… can use more colors that stay separate… more like painting
Crayon. Eggs decorated with crayon then dipped in dye.. the dye does not stick to the wax.
Tape. Tape strips were applied prior to dying then removed after first color… another layer of tape strips applied in a different pattern and egg placed in another color of dye. This had one of the coolest effects of all our stations.
A few of Lloyd’s Easter egg creations.
Unlike South Dakota where all the eggs at the supermarket are white…
All eggs here in Canterbury New Zealand are brown.
The Peas waited patiently until Easter Monday to check their ‘magic beans’… but were more than happy for the wait after they saw what “grew” from their beans…
THANK YOU EB!!!
